Week 3

The demographics of the staff vary widely. Age, ethnicities, economics, education levels, and experience differ within the staff. The great thing about the staff is that everyone appears to share the same interest, and that is to maximize the intellectual and personal potential of the children within the program. The staff consists of certified teachers waiting for full time employment, older teachers that have been laid off from other districts awaiting a job opportunity at Greenville ISD, young college students seeking experience because they are aspiring to be a teacher and people just working a second job for the paycheck. Some attitudes may reflect feelings of being insulted due to having years of experience and still being required to take this training on a weekly basis. Also certified teachers who may feel they have taken classroom management classes and are certified may not see the value or point of having to undergo training for something in which they are certified.  All of these factors are strongly considered. As an incentive instead of using free time to complete the training as usual, staff can earn an hour worth of pay for completing the weekly training. Compensation for inconveniences and portraying positive and good intentions can help to keep the emphasis on the growth of the team versus inconveniencing an individual.

Week 2 Part 2: Thanks

The ID project I intend to design is relevant   to all of the ACE sites and staff because not only is it familiarizing the staff with a new form of technology it is also educating staff members on techniques and information needed for the position they hold with in the program. Also it will be a new form of training/learning for the staff. Once a month all campuses meet for a group training at a specific location. In these meeting the project director which is my boss teaches us different methods to maintain control in the classroom, get participation from students that may not be interested, deal with behavior and create lesson planning. All of our trainings go in a website used by the district called euphoria which has different workshops and training within the district. The project director places those on there for a paper trail of the training that each employee has undergone so it will help in future career advancement. My ID project will be to develop a way to instruct my colleagues to use the voice thread to train their staff on procedures such as fire drills, lock down drills, class room management and intentional activity planning. The purpose of using voice thread will be so that the staff may ask questions on different portions of the training which will, in turn, be addressed for everyone. My project Director assigns books for the staff to study. Therefore I will instruct them how to us the voice thread to review the book and to ask questions. My project will be used to instruct each site throughout Greenville ISD so that each coordinator will be fully educated of the application and its function. This will not be a problem with resources or accessibility because each site has computer access and internet access which are the only necessary resources. The ID project will be a voice thread that my colleagues and I can use to train our staff with different intentional activities for the children. In a previous meeting coworkers mentioned that it was hard to get all of their staff in the same place at once. Using a voice thread, each employee can log on and review the weekly training. This will insure that the staff can be properly trained and gain an understanding of each weeks’ focus This came to my attention after having a meeting with my fellow site coordinators. We are required to have weekly staff meetings but due to the budget the staff is not all together at one time. Each activity aide works two hours daily. The job of the site coordinator is to make the employees schedule so that you can utilize the hours accordingly without going over budget.It is very important that the employees get the weekly updates as well as the areas we are looking to improve during the week.
